Who is Sonata?
Sonata is the face of Project Sonata, an avatar that looks like a conductor-esque young woman with long purple hair. She has a voice created using the Japanese synthesis program UTAU.
What is the point of buying Project Sonata albums?
After spending many years in the Vocaloid+UTAU community, it became apparent to me that a lot of people in this community use music and art as coping tools, ways to vent, ways to feel better and happier. It's a creative outlet that can be used to handle a barrage of intense emotions, instead of being self destructive. I want to support that.

At least once a year, we try to gather artists and music producers in the community, whether they have a large following or not, and create a collaborative album!
Project Sonata album proceeds are being donated to various charities, such as the Depression and Bipolar Alliance, and the National Association for Music Education. By buying the album, you're helping support these organizations and the overseas community!
Who is the team leader of Project Sonata?
Please call me Kamika! I am usually known online as Mika or ShokoraOto. I am an artist and UTAU-user who fell in love the characters of Vocaloid years ago. Vocaloid and UTAU have let me meet many new friends, people that are very dear to me now, people who have helped me realize that life is very precious. Through art and music creation, I feel like I've found my reasons for being here. I want to help inspire others!
And that's where Sonata came in!

What is UTAU?

UTAU is a free-to-use Japanese synth program that lets you create vocals for songs. While it is Japanese, the community has made UTAU voicebanks capable of singing many in different languages.
Why a multilingual UTAU?
Since I wanted many people to be able to use her, I started with English, Japanese and Korean voicebanks. I can't make music very well, but I want Sonata to help inspire you, and help you create.
She still has many languages and extensions to come!

Can I sell my songs I make with Sonata?

If you have purchased the Commercial License, you may!

Note that while all our albums are charity-focused, the Commercial License goes towards us getting better equipment for recording and paying for commissioned artwork. Check under the Shop tab to purchase!
The only exception to this is for any song made featuring Sonata that was made on a charity album. If your song was on one of her albums, you hold all rights to it and can sell it on any personal albums you wish, since it was made originally for charity!
